Honoring All Women Today – Happy National Women’s Day!

Do you know that March 8 of every year is the National Women’s Day?
As per Republic Act No. 6949 Series of 1990, today is the National Women’s Day in the Philippines.
This goes with the International Women’s Day (IWD), a global celebration which aims to recognize the women’s significant contributions in the society.
The IWD was first commemorated in the Philippines in 1971 and then later on officially signed into law as Republic Act No. 6949 in the year 1990.
The right to vote and education are just a few of the major rights that were deprived from women early in the history. But as time passed by, there came several developments concerning women’s rights both locally and globally. These changes greatly affected how the world acknowledges a woman’s potential and value.
As a result, women nowadays fills significant positions in the society without discrimination thus allowing them to flourish and contribute to the growth of the industry where they belong.
In the same way, this is God’s original design. Women, along with men, are called to be partners with Him in the growth of His creation (Genesis 1:26-28; 2:18-25).
If you are woman, then remember how precious you are. You have a purpose, and you are beautiful in every way.
This beauty is more than what meets the eye. In her book Becoming Myself, Stasi Eldridge says that “Being beautiful is a quality of spirit recognized primarily in a woman whose soul is at rest because she believes her God when he calls her lovely.”
This statement somehow reflects what Proverbs 31:30 NIV says, “Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.
So this National Women’s Day, celebrate your womanhood. Be honored and blessed that you are a woman!
